Initiated in 1983, Tim Gonderman was active with Chi Chapter while pursuing his BS in Mathematics. “Gondo” served terms as Grand Scribe, Rush Chairmen, and Pledge Educator before receiving his degree. He followed up with an MS in Secondary Education from Indiana University (South Bend) in 1989.
After graduation – and while working on his MS degree, Timothy was hired by the Lakeland School Corporation, where “Gondo” became “Mr. Gonderman.” He has been with Lakeland ever since, spending the vast majority of that time as a high school math teacher, with a four-year stint as Athletic Director (1998-2001). Brother Gonderman has coached five different sports (basketball, golf, tennis, baseball, and football for those keeping score) at all levels over the past 25 years.
When not instructing students on the finer points of the quadratic equation or coaching students athletes, Tim is also active in the community, serving as a volunteer coordinator for Habitat For Humanity in La Grange, IN. And when not helping build houses for those in need, Tim helps oversee the chapter house, sitting on the Chi Chapter House Association Board of Directors.
“Becoming a member of Chi Chapter offered me the opportunity to develop many social, personal, leadership, and teamwork skills that I still carry with me today. While at Purdue many friendships were established that remain to this day. I have nothing but fantastic memories from my days living at 308 North Street.”
